If your child is in the early grades it is important to play games that teach them to count. Skip counting by 1, 2, 5, and 10 is needed as a basis for future Math learning.  Board games like Sorry and Snakes and Ladders will have children practising their counting and you can have them count by 1, or 2 depending on how far on the board they can go.

Dice and a deck of cards can also produce many different counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing games.

Idea:  One player flips over a card and then the other player does the same.  Whoever gives the addition answer first gets the two cards for their pile.  This can be done for mulitiplication as well.

See what other games you and your child can develop to practise their basics:)

Have fun and help your child at the same time.
