Hello everyone.
We hope that you are enjoying your day and that your children are enjoying the snow.

Here are your reminders and updates.

Reminders:

1. Save the date!!! Thursday December 8th is Family Night at Franklin P.S.

Updates:

1. Please note that student report cards are going out on Wednesday November 23rd not on the 21st. The earlier School-Day message was corrected.

2. EQAO Elementary Assessment Dates for 2022-23 are open from May 10 – June 14, 2023 and Franklin P.S. will be choosing specific dates in that time frame. The assessments for grades 3 and 6’s will be digitalized once again this year.

3. Book Fair will be running Wednesday to Friday – stay tuned for a future announcement on this with the specific times that it will be open. If you would like to volunteer to help out at this event, please contact Mrs. Brenneman at the school.

4. Franklin is looking forward to having its second annual garage sale! We are asking for donations of gently used books, toys and clothing. Toys will be sold during our Franklin Family Night on Thursday, December 8th. Clothing will be offered for free to all families during Family Night. All proceeds will be going towards families within the community. Please send donations with your child to school no earlier than December 1st (as we don’t have much storage until then!). We hope to have a very successful garage sale!

5. For our Family night, there will be a bake sale and we are looking for homemade donations once again that are nut-free, including avoiding coconut and peanut butter. You should have received a hard copy note entitled, Franklin Bake Sale.

If you would like to drop off treats on the morning of December 8th, please include an ingredient list and label any containers with your child’s name and class number. The sale will include individually wrapped and small packs for families to take home. Money raised will go towards families in our community.

If you’d like to send an item and no longer have the paper, please contact Mrs. Borris at the school and let her know you can contribute a baked good.

6. Tuesday November 29th, is the Giving Tuesday for Toonies for Tummies. Last year Franklin raised $539.00. We are so thankful for your contribution and we are hoping you can match last year’s donation or, better yet, exceed it! If you are interested in donating, funds can also be sent electronically at food4kidswr.ca/toonies4tummies and/ or e-transfers are accepted at: giving@food4kidswr.ca.

7. Students participated in their second lockdown drill and bus training for evacuations this past week.

8. There have been so many people still interested in Spirit wear! Therefore, our spirit wear provider has agreed to open up a school link for ordering that will stay open until December 23. You can order directly from the link provided. Orders will be delivered to Franklin public school in the new year. Red Frankie T-shirts and black Frankie hoodies will be available for purchase. Please go to school-day to get the link to order if interested.

Quote of the Week:

“Lend your calm to your children when they are upset, crying, yelling, etc. Sometimes all they need is time and then a hug.”
