Hello Franklin Families. We hope your weekend is going well. Here are your weekly reminders and updates as we get closer to mid-November.
Reminders:

1. If you are planning to volunteer at some point in the year, please remember to get a vulnerable record sector check via the police department.

2. Here are final technology learning opportunities:

Part One and Two are now completed.

Part Three: Presenting and Studying

Tuesday, November 12, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. (https://meet.google.com/zzx-wecy-maa)

3. The annual Poinsettia Fundraiser is closing shortly. Please ensure to get forms and monies in no later than Monday, November 11. Poinsettias will be delivered on Thursday November 21st, and families can pick up their orders outside of Room 16 between 3:45-6:00 on that day.

4. There is a Committee of the Whole Meeting on Monday, November 11 from 7:00pm – 9:30pm. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/c/WRDSBVideo/live

5. If you were not here for Picture Day, the make-up day is November 26th.

6. The School Council is running a Big Box of Cards at Franklin Public School. See the School-Day message under “products” that was posted last week and on in announcement section this past week. It goes to Friday November 15th. Payment for all boxes sold is to be made via School Day when orders are placed.

7. Progress reports will be going home on Monday, November 18th.

Updates:

1. Welcome to Vlad Kovac, the second administrator we will have until the end of December / beginning of holidays. We wish Sam H-W all the best and are grateful to her contributions when here.

2. We also welcome two new supervisors to our school – E. Adelhady and S. Fahad.

3. Should you have any gently used clothing sizes 4-8, consider donating to Franklin. It seems to be in great demand and we need these items at the school due to bathroom accidents and getting wet. We would be so appreciative of any contributions, within these sizes, as we have an increased daily need.

4. Please put back a change of clothing in your child’s bag that can be left at the school. ‘Tis the season of wet or cold weather, so extra socks, underwear and pants are always helpful to your student, whether older or younger.

5. If possible, please include a wet wipe or napkin for your children in their lunches.

6. We have noticed that a lot of unfinished lunches are going into the garbages. We will be asking students to return everything home (like a boom-a-rang lunch) so that parents are aware of what children are eating or not eating versus throwing out sandwiches, or unfinished products. Please remind your children that they should be eating what is provided and or what they have made.

7. At this point in the year, classes have completed various assessments so that teachers can provide small group instruction to meet students where they are at in numeracy and literacy. September and the first part of October were focussed on relationship building, class culture, routines, and rules/expectations plus diagnostics (assessing where they are after the summer) of students.

8. Students did a great job in their bus training this week. Maybe take a moment to see what they remember.

Quote of Week:

“One of the best gifts we can give our children is the gift of saying the word “no” to continual “I WANT” requests, and accepting the fact that they will have a tantrum.”

Have a super day everyone!
