Greetings, Franklin families, and welcome back to another exciting school year. It was great to see all the smiles and excitement on the first day of school. We have not yet scheduled a “Meet-the-Teacher” event, but we hope to be able to choose a date/ time soon! (Some of you may have received a calendar/ note indicating that we would be holding a “Meet-the-Teacher event on September 10, but this is not the case! Sorry for any confusion.)

“School Day” is an  online communication/ payment tool which we are using to facilitate effective communication and save paper! Parents can sign up through the link on the  website (below, bottom left corner).

A few reminders for you:

  • We always want to encourage families and students to walk to/from school whenever possible, but if you are picking up and/or dropping off your children at the start or end of the school day, it is extremely important that you do not use the staff parking lot or the front traffic circle. In the interest of student safety, we need to do everything we can to  minimize vehicular traffic at the front of the school. Please contact the school office if you have temporary or ongoing mobility or accessibility issues that might make this challenging.
  • Grade 1-6 students were provided with Planners/ Agendas on their first day of school. The cost of these Planners is $5 per student. Thanks to parents who have already sent in this amount. Please send in this money ASAP.

We were all excited to see the improvements in the Kindergarten Play area that happened over the summer. Keep watching, because there are more exciting enhancements planned! A big thank-you goes out to the School Council for all their work in making this happen, and thanks also to all Franklin families, whose support of Council fundraising supported this initiative.

Our first School Council meeting is at 7:00 pm on September 23, in the school library, and newcomers are always welcome.

As always, please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns.
