Dear Kindergarten Parents,

The busiest time in a Kindergarten classroom is at the end of the day.  Getting 150 students ready for buses, extended day programs and parents who are waiting to pick them up can be very hectic.  When parents make changes to the end of the day routines, mistakes can happen, unless we have clear communication and expectations.

We ask that if you are making a change to the end of the day dismissal for your child, (other than emergency purposes, of course), that you share that information with the classroom teacher in a separate written note placed in your child’s communication bag, clearly stating your end of day expectations with the date attached.  This note will be shared with the necessary staff (i.e. extended day or bus supervisors) to ensure your child gets to his/her correct location safely.  It is important that you date the note so that we can ensure that we are not reading older notes or notes made for the next day.

All students who are scheduled for extended day will be sent to their extended day program at 3:40.  If you are picking your child up before 3:40, then you will sign him/her out at the office.  Otherwise, you will need to sign him/her out of extended day classrooms.

All walkers will be handed off to their parents/caregivers at 3:40, the end of the instructional day.  Any child who needs to be picked up before 3:40 will need to be signed out at the office.

We have an exceptional group of Kindergarten staff, who do a great job problem solving to create a seamless, quality program for your children.  We thank you for your understanding as we look to maximize the time your children spend learning, playing and cooperating.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.
