The students and staff at Franklin held an Olympic Kick-off assembly today and each class came into the gym carrying the flag of their country.  The countries’ national anthems were played as the teams came in.

Our special guest was Brad Schlegel, a Kitchener native, who played for the Canadian Hockey team in the 1992 and 1994 Olympics, winning 2 silver medals.  He talked about setting goals and sticking to the plan, even through adversity and disappointments.  He then showed his two medals to the children as they left the gym.  What an exciting day here at Franklin!!!!

Over the next two weeks, medal tallies and interesting facts about the various countries will be shared at our morning announcements to keep the Olympic spirit alive.

Thanks to the Franklin  leadership team for organizing this tribute to the Olympics:)   Go Canada Go!!!
