Measurement:  Grades 1-3

Help your child understand measurement by  ordering the size of items in your kitchen (ie. cereal boxes, cracker boxes etc.)

They can talk about the height, width, length  or they can look at weight.  Have them estimate the tallest to the shortest, heaviest to the lightest.  You can change it up in many ways.  Be creative.  Once they have estimated, they can actually line them up to see how close their estimates were.

Grade 4-6

Are  bigger items always heavier than smaller ones?

Take your child to the grocery store.  After picking out the fruits and vegetables, have your child hold them and estimate their mass in grams. Let them verify their answers by using the grocery scale.

They can also estimate and calculate the cost of the items after they see the mass.
