Good morning Franklin Parents/Guardians and Families. Here are your reminders and updates for this week!

Reminders:

1. As you know, Mr. Hansen is retiring and his last day is Tuesday January 31st. We wish him all the best in his next journey and future endeavours. Ms. Weber will be joining us until February 10th and we welcome her to the Franklin Community.

2. Please remember that even if children are outside with their classes before the last bell, staff are not able to dismiss children unless they have been signed out as they are in our care till 3:40 pm.

Updates:

1. Winter Walk Day is February 1st.

2. For students who have accumulated a high level of absences, letters will be going home to ensure that families see what number we have on file. Attendance is mandatory for school aged children unless ill or another valid reason (e.g., modified day, etc.) and is vital to academic success as it impacts relationships with peers, future academics, co-curricular opportunities, etc.

3. Here is a message from our local Stanley Park Community Centre.

“Fearlessly YOU is offering a FREE evening program at Stanley Park Community Centre to promote positive body image and supportive friendships using physical activity, art, drama and team building. Research shows that by Grade 5 girls start experiencing negative feelings about themselves and their confidence and self-esteem declines. Fearlessly YOU welcomes youth who identify as girl, non-binary, trans, and Two-Spirit to strengthen their self-esteem and confidence. This program runs for 8 weeks on Thursdays from February 9 to April 6 (with no program on Mar 16 for March Break) from 3:45-5:45. Please go to our website for more information!
