Good morning Franklin Families. Here are your reminders and updates for this week.
Reminders:

1. The PD Day is this coming Friday May 31st. On this day, there is NO school for students.

2. Grade 6 Parent Night for future Sunnyside Students. – Save the date: June 13th, 6:30-7:30pm.

3. We need those Kindergarten numbers. Please encourage families to register at Franklin. We have another opportunity to enter our numbers at the end of this week to see if there are any changes.

4. Jump Rope for Heart will be occurring on June 4. Here is your school page link https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/45669. Thank you for the many donations already received.

5. EQAO for grade 6s is this coming Tuesday and Thursday.

6. Please see the School-Day message on Michael Wade, the author, who is coming to Franklin on Wednesday May 29th. He will be presenting to students from grades 3 – 6. Please check out his website: www.boysbookshelf.com for more info. and to view excerpts from his books.

8. Bike to School Week 2024 will be taking place June 3-June 7, 2024. Week is a great opportunity to promote active transport to and from school.”

Updates:

1. Franklin library closes on Friday June 14th for the year. All library books must be returned by this date and any outstanding fees paid by June 21st.

2. As we support Jump Rope for Heart as a Community, there is a learning to jump program you may be interested in for your child/children (both recreational and competitive jump programs) if they are between the ages of 7 and 12. For more information, email info@kwjumprope.ca

3. Funding for Net-Zero Grants Now Open

Funding for Net-Zero offers $2,500 – $15,000 grants to student-led projects across Canada, that reduce emissions at their schools (grades 6-12). For more information on these grants, and how to apply, please visit the Funding for Net-Zero page (https://nowfornetzero.org/funding/). Applications close on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

4. Retirement news! Susane Tomchick, teacher, is retiring at the end of the year. Cindy Martin, EA, has already retired. We wish them all the best in their next life chapter.

5. Students had a fire drill on Friday. One more to go which will be done sooner than later.
