October 27th, 2024
Hello Franklin Families. Here are your weekly reminders and updatess
Reminders (7):
1. The weather is unpredictable at this time of year – cold, hot, windy, etc. Please ensure your students have what they need in their school bags for colder weather.
2. Please note, Franklin School Picture Day is Tuesday, October 29. Children will need to bring their lovely smiles that day. See last week’s School-Day message for more details on proof sheets and company contact information.
3. If you are planning to volunteer or help out at events at some point in the year, please remember to get a criminal and vulnerable sector check.
4. Friday, November 1st is a PD Day. There are no school or Extended Day services on this day.
5. At Franklin Public School, our staff recognizes that children need fun things to look forward to and these experiences add value to their schooling. Halloween is one of those special days that many children enjoy; however, not all families celebrate Halloween, for many reasons, including cultural, religious, socio-economic and personal. We want to create a safe, stable environment where every child feels included, valued and treated with dignity. The spirit of inclusion also means respect for the decision of those who cannot or choose not to participate.
Children are welcome to wear a costume to school on Halloween, if their families choose to send them to school wearing them. However, Halloween will not be the main focus of the learning day at Franklin.
If a student does wear a costume, they are asked to follow these simple guidelines:
– Costumes should not impact a child’s (or other students’) ability to learn or participate in school activities
– Children should not be wearing Halloween masks or face coverings.
– Ensure that costumes are not discriminatory, representative of other cultures or religious beliefs, or violate the health and safety of other students
-No props or accessories (costumes should be limited to what you can wear on your body)
-Those that wish to wear orange, purple or brown is also an option for this day as it is our Fall Colour Spirit Day.
