Hello Franklin Families. Thank you to those guardians who were able to attend Constable McCann’s presentation. It was very informative and will help us protect youth from hazards of technology.
Here are your reminders and updates for this week.
Reminders:
1. March Break is from March 10 to 14th this year. There is no school that week.
2. Occupational Therapists and Assistants from KidsAbility SBRS Team will be offering two summer group options including School Readiness and Fine Motor and Movement.

4. “Region of Waterloo Public Health is coming to [our] school and will be offering free dental screenings on Monday…..A screening is a quick look in the mouth by a Registered Dental Hygienist…

Updates:
1. This past Friday, Franklin students from K to grade 6 had a presentation on Electrical Safety and Conservation. Some great learning on how to be safe and how to conserve energy.
2. The WRDSB offers community organizations and not-for-profits the opportunity to share information on their programs and services with our schools. 3. “The Waterloo Region District School Board will be operating March Break Camps for extended day participants on March 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 2025” with one of the locations being Franklin. It will be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. All five Kindie rooms will be used.
4. Before & After school programs will resume normal operating hours 7am-school start and dismissal bell-6pm on March 17th.
5. Some information has come out about vaccinations. Please note that incomplete vaccination records on file with Public Health will result in student suspensions. Please monitor notifications as suspension orders are being sent out. Please work with public health directly if you receive a notification.
6. If you are interested in registering your child for basketball on Wednesdays from April 9th to May 28th. Every child registered will get a t-shirt. Cost is 25 dollars/child – cash only. Coaches are high school players and it will be at Eastwood Collegiate Gym. There are two divisions – grade 4 to 6 and grade 7 to 9. It runs from 6:30 to 7:50 pm. Registration is open and will run till March 17th.

7. Clothing from the lost and found will be spread out on tables by the gym next week (Tuesday to Friday). There is an enormous amount of clothing so there are many people who are missing clothing items from home. Please try to come and check as any leftover clothing will be sent to a donation facility. If you need to arrange a time outside school hours to do this, please email linda_cotnam@wrdsb.ca
