Hello Franklin Families.
We hope your weekend is going well. Here are your weekly reminders and updates.

Reminders:

1. If you are planning to volunteer at some point in the year, please remember to get a vulnerable record sector check via the police department.

2. If you were not here for Picture Day, the make-up day is November 26th.

3. Progress reports will be going home on Monday, November 18th.

4. Poinsettia pick up, if you ordered, is this coming Thursday November 21st from 3:45-6:00. Families can pick up their poinsettias outside of Room 16 (across from the Gym).

5. ‘Tis the season of wet or cold weather, so extra socks, underwear and pants are always helpful to have in your child’s bag, whether older or younger.

6. We have noticed that a lot of unfinished lunches are going into the garbages and children are being asked to return everything home (like a boom-a-rang lunch) so that parents are aware of what children are eating or not eating versus throwing out sandwiches, or unfinished products. Please remind your children that they should be eating what is provided and or what they have made first before reaching out to Nutrition for Learning items.

7. Pink Day on Wednesday.

8. School Council meeting this coming Thursday at 6:30 pm.

Updates:

2. Please remember that we are a Scent Free board and some staff and students are sensitive or allergic to various products. Please remind your children that any scents should not be used when coming to school as it has negative effects on some staff, students and families.

3. Through a grant that was completed by a member of the School Council, Franklin is receiving funds for 15 glockenspiels. This is a great addition for our music program. Thank you to School Council!!!

4. Our outdoor sign is down again…..we have no idea why. I regret the inconvenience.

5. We recognized Remembrance Day with a whole school moment of silence and The Last Post. There was also a slide presentation that allowed classrooms to have an opportunity to discuss key elements, e.g., In Flanders Field poem, contributions of those who have gone to past and present wars, what it means to be a peacemaker, the importance of this day and more.

6. Our grade 1s and 2s had a visit from the Ranger players. It was a “Read with the Rangers” event. The children had a lovely time.

Quote of Week:

“Children make bad choices; they are not bad children.”

Have a super day everyone!
